Police are investigating a serious crash between a truck and a motorbike in Northland’s Matapouri on Sunday afternoon.
Emergency services are responding to the crash on Matapouri Rd, near the intersection of Kaiatea Rd, north-east of central Whangārei.
The crash was reported to police just after 12.30pm, and initial indications showed there have been injuries, a police spokesperson said.
Police’s serious crash unit would attend the scene to investigate.
The road is expected to be closed for some time and motorists are asked to avoid the area.
A St John Ambulance spokesperson said one patient was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
Northland’s rescue helicopter did not attend the crash.
Matapouri Rd is also known as the Twin Coast Discovery Highway. An alternate route is available through Ngunguru.
