Police are calling for information from the public following an assault on Tuesday at Motueka that left a man injured.

The incident, involving two males, happened about 5pm on Wallace St.

In a post on the Nelson, Marlborough, West Coast Police Facebook page, police said it was understood people were around at the time who may have witnessed the assault or checked if the victim was all right.

A St John spokesperson on Saturday said it did not appear that the ambulance service was notified.

Anyone with information about the assault is urged to call police on 105 and quote file number 221130/0151.
