Police in Dunedin were kept busy after two children stole a vehicle.
Two children took a stolen car on a joyride around Dunedin before being caught, police say.
A police spokesperson said the two youths – who were both aged under 14 – stole a Toyota Aqua from outside a home on Corstorphine Rd, Dunedin.
The pair drove the stolen vehicle around the city, but it was later spotted by a patrol on Riselaw Rd, police said.
Officers tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver fled at speed and police did not pursue, Senior Sergeant Anthony Bond said.

Police later located the vehicle, now with three occupants, on Trecastell St, in the coastal community of Brighton, on Saturday about 12.45am
The trio were arrested and taken to the Dunedin Central Police Station.
One was charged with unlawfully taking a motor vehicle, and failing to stop, and would appear in Youth Court. The other two, due to their age, have been referred to Youth Aid, Bond said.
