Prince William wrapped up his short visit to Boston with a meeting with US president Joe Biden, where the pair shared “warm memories” of the late Queen Elizabeth II, People reported.

On Friday (US time), the Prince of Wales met with Biden outside the John F Kennedy Presidential Library ahead of the second annual Earthshot Prize Ceremony, which aims to find new ideas and technologies around the world to tackle climate change and Earth’s most pressing challenges.

The 40-year-old future King travelled to Boston for the three-day visit centred around the ceremony with Princess Catherine earlier this week.

“Where’s your top coat?” Biden asked, as he met William outside in the cold weather, while the future King laughed and greeted the president.

The Prince of Wales shared “warm memories” of Queen Elizabeth II with US president Joe Biden during his Boston trip.

The pair met for 30 minutes and had a “warm, friendly and substantive discussion,” according to a spokesperson for the prince.

“The president was keen to learn about the prince’s Earthshot Prize and some of the stories from the finalists. The prince also shared his global, long-term ambition for the prize.”

The Prince of Wales also thanked Biden for travelling to the UK for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II in September.

John F Kennedy’s daughter, Ambassador Caroline Kennedy and her children, Jack Schlossberg and Tatiana Schlossberg also met with William and joined him on a tour of the museum.

Prince William’s initiative, inspired by Kennedy’s moonshot proposal in the 1960s, aims to find solutions to climate issues. Five winners last year were awarded £1 million (NZ$1.9m) for their projects. The ceremony is being held in Boston this year as a tribute to Kennedy.

The Prince of Wales addressed the former president’s daughter at a private luncheon following the tour of the building.

“Thank you, Ambassador Kennedy, for that warm welcome and for hosting us here in this iconic building. Caroline, just over a year ago, we committed to bringing the Earthshot Prize to Boston, the birthplace of your father, and the man who inspired our mission,” he said.

“The 2022 winners announced later today are the next step on our collective journey. Their stories are inspiring, and their solutions are game-changing.”

The ceremony will be held at the MGM Music Hall on Friday night (US time). Five winners will each receive US $1 million grants for their projects, as well as support from the Earthshot network.
