A 36-year-old man has been charged with accessory after the fact to murder, in relation to the death of Whangārei man Bob Kleiman.
Police launched a homicide investigation after Kleiman’s body was found at an Onerahi home in October 2022.
A 42-year-old man, Ike Wellington Kingi, was charged with Kleiman’s murder the same month.
This week, police charged the 36-year-old with assisting Kingi by allegedly disposing of a firearm involved in Kleiman’s death.

If found guilty, he could face up to seven years in prison.
The Onerahi man was also charged with unlawful possession of a Rossi rifle.
He is due to appear in court on Wednesday afternoon.
The man is the second person to be charged as an accessory after the fact in relation to Kleiman’s murder.
Leonie Farell, 32, is also facing charges for allegedly assisting Kingi and failing to tell police about Kleiman’s death until 19 hours later.
She also faces three charges of failing to comply with police, in relation to giving access codes for three cellphones.
Kingi and Farell are set to go to trial in June 2024.
Police investigating Kleiman’s death also arrested four other people for supplying methamphetamine, with some also facing firearms charges.
