A pedestrian has died after being struck by a car in Gisborne, Tairāwhiti on Saturday.
On Sunday night, police confirmed one person had died after the serious crash on State Highway 35 on Moana Rd in Okitu.
Police were called to the crash, which involved a car and a pedestrian, at about 12.50pm on Saturday, a spokesperson said.
“The pedestrian was transported to hospital in a critical condition, however they have sadly died today,” the spokesperson said.
Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.
