LAS VEGAS (AP) — Desi-Rae Young scored 19 of her 21 points points in the first half and No. 24 UNLV raced away early from San Diego State in a 100-41 win on Saturday for the Lady Rebels’ 11th straight victory.
Young shot 9 of 10 and Lady Rebels (26-2, 16-1 Mountain West) were 38 of 62 overall for 61%, including a season-high-tying 16 3-pointers on 33 attempts.
Ashley Scoggin was 5 of 7 from the arc in scoring 17 points. Alyssa Durazo-Frescas, who made four 3s, Amarachi Kimpson and Kneka Obiazor added 12 points each. Kiara Jackson had 11 points with nine rebounds.
Adryana Quezada led the Aztecs (18-12, 9-8) with 14 points. San Diego State shot just 28% and was outscored 21-6 off turnovers.
In the teams’ game at San Diego on Jan. 17, the Aztecs led by three at halftime before losing just 67-60. This game was nothing like that.
The Lady Rebels took off to a 28-7 lead and were up 51-17 at halftime on Obiazor’s 3-pointer at the buzzer. The lead was 78-33 after three quarters.
This was the third time this season UNLV reached 100 points.
On Tuesday, the teams conclude their regular seasons with San Diego State home against Wyoming and UNLV at Utah State.
