Royce Flynn was unconscious and alone in his house. If it wasn’t for the actions of his neighbour, Lara Tasker, things could have been much worse.
Recently, Flynn told Tasker he was feeling unwell due to some ongoing health issues.Tasker, who had looked out for Flynn for over a decade, was there for him every step of the way, checking in and ensuring he had everything he needed.
Tasker had been keeping a close eye on Flynn’s house, and one morning she realised something just wasn’t right. She immediately contacted the police and rushed to check on him.
They arrived to find Flynn lying on the floor. An ambulance arrived quickly and rushed Flynn to Waikato Hospital Emergency Department for treatment. The medical event left Flynn unconscious for 30 hours.
Flynn lived to tell the tale, and nominated Tasker as this week’s Nice Neighbour for her actions on that day and ongoing care.
Flynn said Tasker was “absolutely essential to my well-being”.
“Without her, I would be in a dire situation with no home assistance and no friendly neighbour to rely on.
“She takes excellent care of my cat, tidies up messes, and watches my property while I am at the hospital. I am deeply grateful for her unwavering support whenever I require assistance. She went above and beyond, and I wanted to show her how much I appreciate her kindness and support.”
