Police are today conducting a scene examination of the Albion St property in Hawera.
A man has been killed in the Taranaki town of Hawera.
In a statement Detective Senior Sergeant Gerard Bouterey said a homicide investigation had been launched after the man was found dead at an Albion St address.
Emergency services were called about 2.30am on Saturday, where the man was found dead.
A 34-year-old man was arrested at the scene and was charged with breach of bail and assault. A woman who was at the property is helping police with their enquiries.
Police said they were not currently searching for anyone else in relation to the death.
