Loving it: Man driving ride-on Ford Ranger conquers the McDonald’s drive-thru

Like many of the world’s greatest adventures, it started with a simple idea.

For Damian Scully it was the simple reward of a double cheeseburger combo.

As snow began falling across the city on Saturday night, the Dunedin man hatched a plan to warm things up by driving his mate’s ride-on electric Ford Ranger through the drive-thru at McDonald’s Andersons Bay.

‘’It was pretty cold,’’ Scully told Stuff, after taking the joyride on the ride-on.

Damian Scully orders some McDonald’s while on a ride-on Ford Ranger.

And it almost didn’t work. Footage supplied from his friends show the ride-in did not trigger the sensors to initiate the ordering prompts.

That meant another friend had to arrive with their vehicle, giving Scully’s ride-on a friendly nudge in the process, and trigger the sensor.

‘’Order, Steve,’’ Scully told his friend, as he drove forward to pay.

Despite the pint-sized vehicle, that order was processed without issue, with Scully able to store the order in the Ranger’s surprisingly ample boot.

Scully said he enjoyed the experience, but wasn’t sure if he would repeat it in the future.

Three years earlier a woman on horseback was able to order at the drive-thru, this time in Kaiapoi.
