Twenty-two Air New Zealand flights have been cancelled in Auckland due to fog on Thursday morning.

The national carrier said 22 of its turboprop services, smaller aircraft rather than jet planes, were cancelled.

According to Auckland Airport’s website, a total of 34 Air New Zealand flights to and from Auckland had been cancelled on Thursday.

But Air New Zealand couldn’t give a breakdown of which were cancelled due to fog, or other reasons, such as staff shortages.

Three flights have also been delayed due to fog, the airport said.

Auckland Airport confirmed that international flights had not been affected, but to check Auckland Airport’s website for the latest flight arrival and departure information.

MetService said as the fog was quite extensive, it would be hard to predict when it would lift, adding that it would last most of the morning.

Meanwhile, Waka Kotahi said delays during rush-hour were also to be expected.
