The number of new reported cases of Covid-19 is up nearly 1000 cases compared with the week prior.
There have been 12,202 new cases of Covid-19 reported across New Zealand in the past week, officials say.
The Ministry of Health released an update, covering the period from Monday, March 27 to Sunday, April 2, on Monday afternoon.
The total number of reported cases is 944 higher than last Monday, when 11,258 cases were announced.
The rolling seven-day average of new reported cases was 1739, up from 1605 this time last week.

As of midnight on Sunday, there were 220 people in hospital with Covid-19 – nine of whom were in an intensive care or high dependency care unit.
This was up from 211 the same time last week.

The Ministry of Health reported 14 deaths in the past seven days.
Six people were aged in their 70s and six were in their 80s. Two were aged over 90.
Eight were women and six were men.
To date, 2687 deaths have been attributed to Covid-19 since the pandemic began, the ministry said.
Of the 12,202 new cases reported on Monday, 5149 (42%) were reinfections. Of those, 171 were in people who reported having Covid-19 in the past 90 days.
Across the country, Canterbury reported the highest number of new cases in the past week by far, with 2248.
This was followed by 1271 in Waitematā (north and west Auckland), 1214 in Southern and 1032 in Counties Manukau (south and east Auckland).
As of March 28 – the most recent data available – Te Waipounamu (the South Island districts) had the highest number of cases per 100,000 people, as a rolling seven-day average.
Across the region, there were 48 Covid-19 cases per 100,000, the ministry’s trends and insights data showed.
In comparison, there were 30 cases per 100,000 people in Central, 26 in Te Manawa Taki and 24 per 100,000 in the Northern districts.
In the week ending March 26, the seven-day rolling average of reported case rates was 30.7 per 100,000 population nationally.
This was similar to the previous week: 30.4 per 100,000, as of March 19, the ministry said.
