Police are investigating after a child died in an incident in Tuakau on Tuesday.
A child has died following a serious incident in Tuakau.
Emergency services responded to reports of the incident, involving a vehicle and a child on a driveway on Martindale Lane, around 12.25pm Tuesday.
The child died at the scene.
A police spokesperson said enquiries were continuing into the circumstances of the death.
A member of the public – who spoke to Stuff on the condition of anonymity – said they got to the top of Martindale Lane at around 1pm and noticed two police cars blocking the street.
When they asked a police officer what happened, the officer said there had been a “serious accident” and asked them to come back in an hour.
When they arrived back, the street was still cordoned off by cones.
“After 20 minutes of negotiating with the police they let us drive down the street slowly,” they said.
