People fighting with baseball bats in suburban Dunedin led to multiple calls to police.

The incident unfolded at South Rd, Caversham on Monday at 10.45am, Senior Sergeant Anthony Bond said.

Two men – aged 21 and 35 – arrived at the address to ‘’confront the occupants’’, prompting a 41-year-old resident to come outside armed with a baseball bat.

Police spoke to those involved in the fight, and seized a baseball bat.

The older man has dropped the bat, but continued fighting the men, Bond said.

A 32-year-old female – the homeowner’s partner – has then come outside armed with another baseball bat and ‘’started whacking the two visitors’’.

‘’Obviously it has been a bit of a brawl.’’

Police arrived and identified all parties involved, and seized a baseball bat.

Investigations were ongoing to determine the charges to be laid, he said.
