Māori business mini expo on
A mini expo will provide a chance to showcase Māori businesses in the region, as well as bring together people to celebrate Puanga.
Puanga Pakihi Māori is an initiative of He Toronga Pakihi ki Taranaki/Taranaki Māori Business Network and will be held on Wednesday, July 5, from 4pm to 8pm.
It is free for members of the network, and for others the cost of entry is $20.
Through the course of the evening, a range of speakers will share their business experiences, and there will be a range of product samples on offer as well.

Iwi sign agreement with Stats NZ
Te Kaahui o Rauru, the post-governance entity of Ngaa Rauru Kiitahi, and Statistics New Zealand have signed a partnership agreement, known as Te Takapou Tupua.
The agreement will enhance iwi rights and knowledge regarding the collection, storage and use of data related to the iwi, whose rohe encompasses parts of South Taranaki down to Whanganui.
The information will help the iwi build its own capabilities in terms of meeting their goals to build and strengthen its economy, culture and environment.
Te Kaahui o Rauru chief executive Renee Bradley said that was a priority for the iwi.
“The opportunity to work together with Stats NZ provides Ngaa Rauru Kiitahi with an access point, and an immediate capability increase, to data for and about their people,” she said in a statement.
Acting government statistician Dr Craig Jones said the agreement created a commitment to improve access to data, as well as opportunities to increase iwi, hapū and whānau engagement in future decisionmaking.

New Plymouth’s Absolute Radiology has been acquired by Canopy Healthcare Group, one of the New Zealand’s major healthcare companies.
Absolute Radiology has been operating in Taranaki for the past four years and the acquisition process will have no impact on its operations or staffing.
In a statement, Absolute Radiology operations manager Sue Smith-Howard said the change will provide additional layers of support and services for both patients and staff.
This includes significant upgrades of technology.
Canopy Healthcare Group is composed of 22 diagnostic clinics, six oncology clinics, a private breast surgical and diagnostic centre and a drug compounding business.

Lions hand on basket baton
The Waitara Lions are handing on the baton regarding the care and maintenance of the hanging flower baskets, which have lined the town’s main street for more than two decades.
The decorative initiative started in 2001 and have brightened up the McLean St central business district ever since.
A previous Taranaki Electricity Trust grant had also made the installation of a watering system possible.
Waitara community board chair Jonathan Marshall has confirmed plans for the baskets to be retained in the future.
