Emergency services were alerted to a car hitting a barrier on SH1 in Kaiapoi, two people were taken into custody after a firearm was found.
Two people have been taken into custody after a firearm was found when a car struck a barrier on State Highway 1 in Kaiapoi.
At 4.10am police were alerted to the incident that happened 20 minutes north of Christchurch.
The incident occurred between Williams St and Lineside Rd and the road was blocked off as a result.
Police said there were no reports of injuries.
