A representative of Chrissy Teigen’s Cravings has denied recent allegations their newest baking mixes bore a stark similarity to Kiwi baker Jordan Rondel’s recent collaboration with the US model.

“We absolutely did not copy their packaging,” the representative told Rolling Stone in a statement.

Chrissy Teigen’s Cravings denied taking inspiration from a recent collaboration with Kiwi baker Jordan Rondel.

“We are so proud of the now sold-out Cravings x The Caker Spiced Carrot Cake Kit with Salted Caramel. It’s disheartening and surprising to see The Caker’s recent social posts and commentary regarding our products,” they said.

The statement continued to say: “In May 2022, The Caker team was made fully aware that Cravings would be launching a line of baking mixes in the Fall following our one-off collaboration … We wish nothing but the absolute best for The Caker and their business, which was the spirit behind our collaboration.”

But Rondel, also known as the Caker, told Rolling Stone she believed the company took direct inspiration from her recent collaboration.

”They could have taken inspiration from us from afar and not worked with us at all,” Rondel explains. “We worked so closely and so hard and invested so much in our product together that it just stings a bit more now,” she said.

Earlier this week, Rondel told Stuff it was “a shock” to see Chrissy Teigen’s Cravings brand introduce a line of cake mixes that bear stark similarity to her own, after she called out the similarities on an Instagram post.

In September, the LA-based Rondel released a carrot cake mix in collaboration with model Teigen.

Great Kiwi Bake Off judge Rondel told Stuff Cravings had tried to call that off a few months in, saying it had secured a new equity partner “and it was out of their control, this idea was already locked in”.

So she was taken aback when, on October 21, Cravings launched its mixes with a social media campaign.

“Seeing how similar they look is a shock,” Rondel said.
