With all the reports of travel chaos and lost luggage, you’d think having your suitcase back in hand after a trip would result in a massive sigh of relief.
Not so for these unlucky travellers, who were recently left shocked by the state of their bags when they received them after handing them off at check in.
2GB listener Michelle shared photos on Thursday morning of her daughter’s shredded luggage after an international flight.
The bag arrived in Sydney completely torn up and her clothes damaged.

The bag arrived in Sydney wrapped in plastic after the Malaysian Airlines flight from Heathrow. But once Michelle’s daughter unwrapped the bag, they discovered the damage.
It comes as another traveller in the US counted himself somewhat lucky he didn’t lose any more belongings after his suitcase was also completely shredded.
A photo of the trashed luggage was shared on Reddit by a family member who wrote: “My uncle’s suitcase after his flight.
“He said most of the stuff inside was undamaged. Nothing major got f—ed up. The suitcase now joins the honoured dead in the halls of luggage Valhalla,” he continued in the comments.
Plenty of people were stunned by the state of the bag, with one person asking: “Did they put it IN the engine?”
“Bet it fell off and got dragged under the cart they use to move the luggage to the plane to load it,” another offered as a possible scenario.
While on person said: “My first thought upon seeing this picture was ‘how does this even happen?'”
In the comments, the original poster said they did not want to share which airline it was, but that his uncle was receiving compensation for the damage.
“The only things damaged were a hairbrush, the heel of one of his shoes got taken off, and had a grinder destroyed,” he added.
“The airline didn’t tell him how it was damaged, but he did find asphalt gravel inside it so he assumes it somehow ended up dragged across the tarmac.”
