Police on Metcalfe Rd in Rānui, West Auckland after a person was critically injured.

A person has been critically injured following a shooting in the West Auckland suburb of Rānui overnight.

Police were called to the shooting, on Metcalfe Rd just after 10pm on Sunday night.

Three ambulances attended and one critically injured patient was taken to Auckland City Hospital’s emergency department, St John Ambulance said.

Police remained at the scene on Monday morning, with a scene investigation to take place later this morning, a police spokesperson said.

A neighbour said there was a party at the property where the incident took place on Sunday night.

There were “four or five cars there”, she said.

Her husband woke up about 11:30pm on Sunday and heard a woman shouting, but she slept through it, she said.
