A person has been taken to Timaru Hospital in a moderate condition following a single vehicle crash in the Waimate District.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesperson Simon Lyford said fire crews from Washdyke and St Andrews responded to the single vehicle crash on a private property in the Hunter Hills area of Waimate about 7.36am on Tuesday.

He said the call came in from St John.

St John spokesperson Gerard Campbell said they responded to the incident at 7.30am, sending one ambulance and a first response unit.

“One patient was taken to Timaru Hospital (by ambulance) in a moderate condition,” Campbell said.

He suggested police be approached for any further comment on the incident.

Police have been contacted for comment.
